Frequently Asked Questions
Timing for mailed packages is covered in how long FBI results take. Apostille options are on the FBI background checks page.
Can a non-U.S. citizen request an FBI background check?
Yes. Applicants can request their own FBI record directly from the FBI. We offer fingerprint-card collection and EDO application assistance for non-U.S. citizens and green card holders.
Is the FBI government fee included?
It is included in the application-assistance service and the EDO package with Federal Apostille. With EDO Fingerprint Card Only, you pay it separately when submitting your own application.
Are my fingerprints submitted electronically with EDO?
Not with these services. The application is completed online; your fingerprints are printed onto a card that you mail to the FBI.
How long does an EDO request take?
Allow time for mailing, receipt, intake and FBI processing. The fast electronic-submission estimate does not apply to mailed EDO fingerprint packages.
What if my fingerprints are rejected?
If the FBI rejects fingerprints that Midwest Identity Services captured because of print quality, we will retake your fingerprints free of charge within 90 days of your original appointment. Please bring your rejection notice to your retake appointment.
If the FBI requires a new request or a new government fee, that fee is not covered by the free retake and is paid by the client. Read the full Free Fingerprint Retake Policy.
