Service Policies
The free fingerprint retake policy, who each service is for, and what you are responsible for when you book fingerprinting, FBI or apostille services with Midwest Identity Services.
Free Fingerprint Retake Policy
If the FBI rejects fingerprints that Midwest Identity Services captured because of print quality, we will retake your fingerprints free of charge within 90 days of your original appointment. Please bring your rejection notice to your retake appointment.
This free retake applies only to fingerprints taken by Midwest Identity Services. If your fingerprints were taken by another provider and rejected, we are happy to help, but the visit is booked and charged as a new service at our regular price.
If the FBI requires a new request or a new government fee, that fee is not covered by the free retake and is paid by the client.
The free retake is a new fingerprint capture. It does not extend the 30-day retention period described in our Privacy & Data Handling Policy.
Eligibility and customer responsibilities
- FBI Live Scan Fingerprinting is for U.S. citizens and green card holders located in the U.S. or its territories.
- EDO services (the FBI’s Electronic Departmental Order application) are offered for non-U.S. citizens and green card holders. Green card holders may qualify for either route; call us and we’ll help you choose. Direct-FBI applications are also available to other eligible applicants.
- You mail your EDO fingerprint package to the FBI. We do not mail it for you. With EDO Fingerprint Card Only, you also pay the FBI government fee directly to the FBI.
- Licensing and employment fingerprints follow the submission instructions of the board, employer or agency that requested them. Your own FBI Identity History Summary is a different request and does not replace the required employment or licensing background check.
- Federal Apostille begins after the eligible FBI report is issued and follows the U.S. Department of State’s timeline. Standard U.S. nationwide shipping or in-office pickup is included. Embassy or consular legalization and state apostilles are separate services.
- Rush Federal Apostille is an approval request, not an automatic charge. Written approval identifies the issued document and the agreed start and end of the rush window. The add-on is charged only if the approved document is processed within 24 to 48 hours. Rush return shipping is quoted after processing and paid separately.
- Receiving agencies decide what they accept. Confirm with your agency whether it accepts ink-rolled or digitally printed cards before you book, or send us its instructions and we will check.
