What drivers need and what it costs
USPS contractor clearances use FD-258 fingerprint cards. Other transportation employers and agencies may ask for cards, electronic Live Scan or an FBI Identity History Summary, so we confirm the method before the session.

Do USPS contract drivers need fingerprints?
Yes. USPS policy requires contract drivers who handle and transport mail to obtain a non-sensitive security clearance, which includes fingerprints taken on the FD-258 fingerprint card and a five-year criminal background check, before they can start. We provide the FD-258 cards USPS requires, and electronic Live Scan, including Florida Live Scan, when you hire in states that use it.
Do you fingerprint other transportation drivers, not just USPS contractors?
Yes. We fingerprint courier and delivery drivers, trucking and logistics staff, and student transport and paratransit drivers for employers and licensing agencies. Requirements differ, so send us your instructions and we will confirm whether you need FD-258 cards, Live Scan or an FBI Identity History Summary.
How much does driver fingerprinting cost?
FD-258 fingerprinting is $45, plus $20 for each additional card, with cards and a mailing envelope supplied. Group sessions are billed per person, and on-site sessions add a travel fee quoted before booking.
How often does the USPS clearance need to be renewed?
The non-sensitive security clearance must be renewed every four years for drivers to remain eligible to handle and transport mail. As part of your managed account, we track each driver’s four-year renewal date so you know well in advance when a driver is due for renewal fingerprinting and background screening.
Can you screen our entire driver roster at once?
Yes. We run on-site group fingerprinting sessions at your terminal or yard, processing your driver roster in one visit: FD-258 fingerprints, five-year background screening and SAMHSA drug testing all under the same roof. Documentation is packaged for your administrative official’s Postal Inspection Service submission.
Do you also handle the required drug testing?
Yes. SAMHSA-certified drug testing is provided under the same roof as fingerprinting and background screening, so there is no need for a separate vendor or a separate site visit.
Do you offer notary services for our contract paperwork?
Yes. Alongside fingerprinting and SAMHSA drug screening, we offer in-house notary service for the authorizations and contract documents your paperwork requires.
