RN and LPN applicants applying for licensure by exam or by endorsement from another state.
Physicians & advanced practice
Physicians, nurse practitioners, CRNAs and physician assistants applying to state medical or nursing boards.

Travel & contract professionals
Travelers who need licenses in several states on short notice, often with different fingerprint rules in each.
CNAs, aides & home health
Direct care workers whose employer or state registry requires a background check. See caregiver fingerprinting.
Hospitals, clinics & senior care

Common requirements
What boards and employers usually ask for
There is no single healthcare fingerprint standard. Each board and each state sets its own method, so the first step is reading your instructions closely.
| What you were asked for | Who typically asks | How we handle it |
|---|---|---|
| FD-258 fingerprint cards | Many state boards of nursing and other licensing boards, especially for out-of-state applicants, including the Kansas Board of Nursing. | We capture your prints and produce clean, legible FD-258 cards for you to send with your application. |
| A board-specific card | Boards that mail you their own fingerprint card to complete. | Bring the card with you and we complete it to the board’s specification. |
| A state electronic submission | Boards that use their own state’s Live Scan or electronic vendor system. | We check whether that system can be reached from Kansas City before you book. See Live Scan fingerprinting. |
| Florida FDLE / AHCA Live Scan | Florida licensing and AHCA Level 2 screening for healthcare roles. | We submit Florida Live Scan electronically from our office. See Florida Live Scan. |
| An FBI background check | Employers, facilities and some credentialing programs. | We offer FBI Identity History Summary Electronic Submission when you need your own record. |
Send us your agency instructions, ORI number, application requirements or fingerprint request. We’ll help you identify the correct fingerprinting method before your appointment. Our fingerprinting requirements center also explains the most common formats.
Licensed in more than one state
Applying in multiple states? Get fingerprinted once.
One digital capture. Multiple fingerprint cards. Less time in our office.
Travel nurses, telehealth providers and professionals moving across state lines often need fingerprints for two, three or more boards at once. Our digital print-to-card system allows us to capture your fingerprints once and efficiently produce multiple FD-258 or agency-specific fingerprint cards when permitted by the receiving agency.
Need additional permitted cards later? With your consent, your digital fingerprint record may be securely retained for up to 30 days under our stated retention policy so additional qualifying cards can be produced during that period without repeating the full fingerprint capture.
Multi-State Print-to-Card is $60, plus $25 for each additional printed card. Each state still decides what it accepts, so we check every board’s format before we print. Read more on multi-state fingerprinting.

Healthcare fingerprinting FAQ
More questions? Call (816) 442-0295 or send us your board’s instructions.
I’m a nurse applying for a license in another state. Where do I get fingerprinted?
You can be fingerprinted with us in Kansas City. The new state’s board of nursing decides whether it wants FD-258 cards, its own fingerprint card, or an electronic or Live Scan submission, so send us the board’s instructions before you book and we will confirm the right method. If you are applying to several states, we can print multiple cards from one capture when permitted by each receiving agency.
I’m a travel nurse with a compact license. Do I still need fingerprints?
Often, yes. Under the Nurse Licensure Compact, your home state board handles the fingerprint-based background check when it issues a multistate license. Nurses whose home state is not in the compact, and assignments in non-compact states, usually mean separate single-state licenses, each with its own fingerprint instructions. We can help you sort out which boards need what.
How many fingerprint cards do I need?
Your board’s instructions will say. Some boards ask for one card, some ask for two, and each state in a multi-state application is counted separately. Bring the instructions for every board and we will produce the right number, at $20 per additional FD-258 card or $25 per additional printed card with Multi-State Print-to-Card.
How long does it take?
The appointment itself is usually short, and for card-based requests you leave with your completed cards in hand. The background check that follows is processed by the board or the state, on its own timeline. For an FBI Identity History Summary, results are often returned within 24–72 hours of electronic submission, though timing is set by the FBI and can be longer.
Can you come to our hospital or clinic?
Yes. We run on-site sessions for hospitals, clinics, senior care communities and orientation cohorts across the Kansas City metro in Missouri and Kansas, and farther afield by arrangement. Sessions are quoted in writing before we book: send us your headcount and each person’s requirement, and we will schedule around your shifts.
